A destroyed BTR-60, a 1:35 diorama base is a ready scenic ground with the motif of a knocked-out wheeled armored personnel carrier. It serves as a setting for your models; it is not the vehicle itself to build.

A base for a diorama from the Black Dog brand, 1:35 scale, with the motif of a knocked-out wheeled armored personnel carrier. It offers a ready section of terrain into which you place figures or further hardware and get a composition with a clear focal point in the middle.
A damaged vehicle allows work with textures that do not stand out on a freshly finished model: sheet metal eaten by corrosion, flaked paint, settled dust. At the same time it takes care of shaping the landscape for the modeler, so attention can go straight to the surface effects and the composition.
The procedure that has proved itself runs from the darkest tone to the light: a primer coat, the base shade, then the layering of lighter tones with a dry brush onto the edges. Rust suits pigments and oil colors, and the terrain benefits from several different shades of soil side by side. Blur the transition between the wreck and the ground with a fine scatter, so that it does not look sharp.
A wreck on its own tells only half a story. An added figure establishes whether this is a reconnaissance, an abandoned place or an ordinary day in the field. Keep to one subject as you do so: two figures each doing something different will tend to blur the scene. Leave the open area empty; it gives the eye somewhere to rest.
Figures, hardware and paints are not supplied with the base; they are obtained separately according to the composition you have in mind.
