1:35 Destroyed statue base is a Black Dog base with the motif of a broken statue for a diorama scene.
Responsibility details are not available.
A base with a damaged statue carries one of the strongest symbols that can be put into a display case: a monument someone has pulled down. The broken figure and the empty plinth speak of a fundamental change without needing a single word of caption or a label beneath the model.
A recumbent torso forms a horizontal line against which a standing figure stands out. Place the figure behind the fragment of the statue rather than beside it; depth appears and the viewer reads the order of events. A photograph of a vignette like this comes out best from a low angle, with the broken part in the foreground and the rest of the scene receding behind it.
The basis is a light gray-beige tone, over which come several thin glazes in warmer and cooler shades. Leave the fractures in the stone lighter than the surrounding surface, because a freshly exposed area has not yet had time to go gray. Dust belongs on the horizontal cornices, while the vertical parts take dark inlets of damp running downward. The last step is usually a gentle lightening of the highest points of the relief, which visually lifts the statue off the ground.
The piece is finished with paint and patina; which figure finally joins it is purely a matter of the subject you choose.
