Detail set for the Pz. III versions H to L and the N converted from the L, 1:35 scale, ELEFANT

An add-on detail set from ELEFANT in 1:35 scale, intended for the Pz. III tank in the H to L versions and for the N version created by converting the L version. According to the name the contents are enough for four vehicles. It is neither a kit nor a model: it is a set of small parts for modifying a model you already own. The base model is not included in the package.

What the accessory is for

Detail sets of this kind replace small external features that come out too thick in an injected form or are simplified. They bring a modeler two things: a sharper shape where a part is seen close up, and the possibility of telling individual versions of a vehicle apart, which outwardly differ precisely in these details. Being enough for four vehicles is practical for anyone who is building a whole group of vehicles of one series or wants to keep a reserve for later.

Usage and painting tips

Before you start, go through the instructions for your kit and work out which original parts will be removed; sand the area where they were smooth. Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a new blade, and sanding is better done wet and with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Seat the small parts with tweezers one at a time and let them cure before you add the next, because gluing in batches leads to parts being out of place. Add the set to the model before the base coat, so that all the features get a uniform surface; only then paint, accent the edges and apply the weathering.
