A collector's resin figure from the original line of Alternity Miniatures. For figure work as well as for models of equipment the 1:35 scale is the most widespread, so the figure is easily brought into a diorama, or serves on its own on a base. It is an original subject, not a figure documenting a period in military terms.
A resin casting holds a finer drawing than injected plastic: the folds of the clothing, the footwear, the small accessories and the expression of the face stay legible even at this scale. The parts are cast with casting blocks and with a fine parting line left by the mold, and both have to be removed before painting.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry, as otherwise the paint will not hold on the remains of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks away with a fine saw, level the cut surfaces with a file and sand them over wet, with protection of the airways. A dry test before gluing reveals where filler will be needed. Glue with super glue and, once filled, sand the gaps so that the surrounding relief does not disappear. A thin primer follows. Paint the face first: a base tone of the skin, thin glazes into the eye sockets and under the cheekbones, a lighter tone on the nose and the chin. Seat the pupils into a white base and do not make them too large, or the figure will take on an unnatural expression. Unify the clothing with a limited palette and play it out with shades of the same color rather than with variety. A wash into the folds and a gentle dry brush on the edges will add plasticity. Finish with matte varnish and a pinch of pigment on the footwear.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
