Drain grates in 1:35 scale are two resin castings from the Spalah brand for setting into a roadway or a sidewalk on a diorama.

Two street drains in 1:35 scale made by 3D printing from resin. The Ukrainian brand Spalah has conceived them as separate castings with the grating and the curb frame picked out, so it is enough to set them into the surface of a roadway or a sidewalk. Cutting such a grid by hand is practically impossible; the thin bars would break.
What convinces the viewer in a scene are the small things that simply belong there. A roadway without drainage looks like a stage set, whereas a grating by the curb says at once that this is a real street. Two pieces are enough for the opposite sides of a crossroads or for a short stretch along a sidewalk, where it comes in useful to explain where the water runs off after rain. At the same time the grating offers a place where the scene may be at its dirtiest without looking careless, and it draws the eye to itself.
Cut an opening in the base somewhat smaller than the casting and tune it with a file, so that the grating sits level with its surroundings. Fill the gap and sand it over. The painting rests on a dark gray with an admixture of brown; leave the sunken places darker and lighten the upper edges, so that they look worn by wheels. A deposit of leaves, mud and grease around the edge gives the drain credibility.
Paints and glue are not part of the delivery.
