An injection-molded plastic kit of a project anti-aircraft tank on the chassis of the German super-heavy vehicle E-100, with a gun of 12.8 cm caliber Flak 40, in 1:35 scale from the brand Trumpeter. The essential point right at the start: this is a design variant that was never built, that is a subject from the field of unrealized constructions. Check the actual package contents, the number of parts, the material of the tracks and the number of marking options on the box.
The E series, in full the Entwicklung (development) series, was to unify German armor into a few weight classes with as many common parts as possible toward the end of the Second World War. The E-100 was its heaviest member, a super-heavy machine of which only part of the hull was ever got under way; it never went into action. Further variants were counted on for its chassis, including an anti-aircraft one armed with the heavy 12.8 cm Flak 40 gun. That gun itself really did exist and served as a stationary anti-aircraft gun of large caliber, among other things in a twin mount on air defense towers. The combination of a super-heavy chassis and a heavy anti-aircraft gun stayed at the level of a project and a drawing board, which opens up room for modelers to take a freer view of the camouflage and the scene.
Proceed as with any heavy tracked vehicle: first finish the running gear and everything that is visible through the hull, and only then close the hull up. Seat the tracks before the final spraying, but weather them separately. The large smooth areas of armor are worth spraying over a primer and lightening the shade in the middle of the panels, so that the model does not look flat. Keep the gun barrel and the mount on a separate subassembly. For weathering, use a dark wash in the corners and on the edges, dust pigments on the lower areas and the running gear, and oil traces under the access hatches. Because this is an unrealized project, you have a free hand in choosing the camouflage and even an imaginary production batch.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
