The package contains the trailer alone; a towing vehicle is not part of it, so the model is either built as a standalone object for a diorama or paired with a suitable truck or artillery tractor of the same scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The number of parts, whether photo-etched parts are present and the extent of the decal sheet are given by the contents printed on the packaging.
Standardized trailers arose from a requirement for normalized transport equipment that could be produced in larger series and hitched behind various kinds of towing vehicles. The design is based on a frame with a flatbed platform, folding side panels and a simple running gear with a drawbar. Trailers of this type were used to carry cargo, materiel and equipment, and were sometimes adapted for specialized installations. A load capacity of five tons places this type among the larger trailers towed by trucks rather than among light single-axle carts.
With flatbed vehicles start with the running gear and the drawbar, because that is where you can best tell whether the model stands straight; glue the whole frame on a flat board. Paint the load bed and the side panels separately and glue them together only once they are painted, otherwise you will not reach into the corners. Treat any wooden features the kit contains with a light base, a dark wash and a dry brush across the edges. What sells a trailer most of all is the weathering: dust and mud on the wheels and in the wheel arches, wear on the edges of the side panels where the loading happens and fine rust on the fittings. Apply the pigments in several thin layers.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, a towing vehicle and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
