A photo-etched plate with overall dimensions of 100x50 mm with an engraved grating pattern of the American type. It is not a kit, nor a set for one particular model, but a material out of which you cut the areas you need. Hauler is a Czech maker of photo-etched accessories.
Gratings and grilles belong among the most visible details of equipment - they cover radiators, fans and intake openings, and at the same time they are the places where injection-molded plastic usually falls furthest behind. A molded grille is always too thick and has nothing to see through. A photo-etched plate gives the same area the right thickness and structure, and seen from the side its depth tells, which is exactly what the eye notices first on a finished model.
Before the grating is glued on, it pays to darken the space beneath it with a matte black or dark brown paint. Without that the color of the plastic shows through and the grille makes a flat impression, even when it has been cut out exactly. Cut along a ruler with a scalpel on a hard surface and clean the edges up with a fine file. It is glued with super glue applied spot by spot to the edges of the opening, so that the glue does not get into the pattern. After painting with a primer for metal and the main shade, a wash comes next, which is drawn into the pattern and pulls the structure out, and finally dry dust or leaves with pigments, as they ordinarily settle in gratings.
