A figure in 1:35 scale from Dynamo-Models. According to the name it represents a member of the German airborne troops in Normandy in 1944 and is meant as a presence in dioramas and display scenes with vehicles of the same scale.
The Fallschirmjäger were the German airborne troops, which during the war were committed more and more often as ordinary infantry. In Normandy they fought in the terrain of the so-called bocage, that is in a landscape divided by dense hedgerows and sunken lanes, where fighting was carried on at short range and field by field. In their equipment these units differed from line infantry: they wore a short jump smock with large pockets, a helmet without a markedly projecting rim and a different system of load-bearing straps. For a diorama that is practical, because the figure can be told apart from the other soldiers in the scene at first glance.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent before painting and let them dry. The jump smock tends to be the most demanding part, because a camouflage pattern is painted onto it, for which a soft brush and several thin layers are called for so that the pattern does not get coarse. Darken the metal parts of the equipment and lighten the edges slightly; the uniform, on the other hand, should be raised with thinned glazes. The figure fits a scene with a hedgerow, a ruined wall or a sunken lane, that is the setting typical of the Normandy fighting.
