This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from the Japanese company Tamiya captures the French Char B1 bis heavy tank. The modern design offers link tracks that assemble without glue and are easy to finish, a metal tow chain, a movable 75 mm gun in the hull and movable suspension for seating the tracks faithfully on the ground. A single commander figure is included, along with color instructions for three camouflage variants.
The Char B1 bis was a French heavy tank which faced the German advance in May 1940. The riveted hull carried a short 75 mm gun, while the small one-man turret was armed with a longer 47 mm gun. It was an armored vehicle with a reputation as a tenacious opponent.
Finish the running gear before closing the hull. Tracks assembled without glue make painting easier. For faithful weathering use washes and pigments for mud and dust effects, and the riveted surface will stand out with a light picking out of the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
