This is a calm, not a combat scene from the streets of a large city in 2016. A pair of figures side by side gives a scene a more natural feel than a lone figure, because an evident relationship arises between them, with one looking one way and the other another. It can be used in a contemporary urban diorama and as a small vignette on a small base. For such a setting you do not need a large area: a stretch of sidewalk the size of a palm, a piece of wall and one lamp post are amply enough.
On a figure in 1:35 it is mainly the face that decides the result. Paint the eyes with a fine pointed brush, a dark slit first, then a narrow light strip at the sides and finally a tiny iris; an overdone eye ages a figure at once. The transitions on the cheeks are unified with a glaze, that is heavily thinned paint applied over the finished ground. Do not hurry; a face will take several corrections. Good lighting from above helps, because under side light the shadows on a face are judged quite differently from how they look in a display case. On such a small area, mix the paint on a wet palette so that it does not dry between individual strokes.
