A figure of a German paratrooper as an ammunition carrier for the MG 34 machine gun in 1:35 scale. An accessory for dioramas and for models of Second World War equipment.
Responsibility details are not available.
The German airborne units, that is the Fallschirmjäger, belonged during the Second World War to the kind of infantry that carried everything with it. After a jump it had neither vehicles nor a supply column at its disposal, so the division of the load within a squad decided how long it would stay fit to fight. Around the MG 34 machine gun of 7.92 millimeters caliber, several men worked: the gunner carried the weapon, further soldiers the boxes with belts of ammunition, the case with the spare barrel and the tools. In period photographs the ammunition carrier is thus bent under his load, with a box in each hand or slung over his shoulder.
The figure in 1:35 scale captures precisely this role. Into a scene it brings movement and action, because a figure walking with a load looks different from a soldier standing with a rifle, and at the same time it explains what is happening in the diorama.
Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the folds of the clothing and the straps of the field equipment are preserved. Before painting, wash and degrease the figure. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts. The jump smock of German paratroopers appeared in several camouflage patterns and faded quickly in the field, so it pays to mix shades less saturated than they look on a paint color chart. The procedure is tried and tested: a basic tone, a dark wash into the folds, a lighter drybrush along the edges and at the end the face and dust on the boots.
For modelers who build dioramas from the Second World War in 1:35 scale and want to see people with the equipment too. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
