Fuel jerrycans dated 1940 will complete vehicles and bases in the size of 1:35. The name gives the year and the marks of two period makers.

The set offers German containers for fuel dated to the year 1940. It is exactly the year that sets it apart from the other sets of the same range; beside it the name carries the marks of two period makers, ABP and SCHWELM. The data on the count of pieces is likewise part of the name, not a verified description of the contents.
The German container was better thought out in its time than most contemporary solutions, and so the Allied armies copied it almost unchanged after capturing it. The English name of the jerrycan still refers to its origin today. For a modeler a practical consequence follows from that: containers of this shape appear even in scenes where one would not expect them, because captured equipment was commonly used on.
The surface tends to be of one color and heavily shaped, so it reacts well to a wash that runs into the swages. Let the cross on the side stand out with a shadow and brighten the edges by contrast. If you want to distinguish the contents, a color accent and lettering play a role; do small markings rather as a suggestion than as exact script, which would not be legible at a small size anyway. Let the base shade dry thoroughly before the wash, otherwise the paint will spread into areas where it should not be.
