Building and painting tips

First wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water and remove the mold release residue. Cut the casting block off, level the surface and protect your airways when sanding. Glue it with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and apply a primer coat before painting. Then paint the base in earth shades, bring out the recesses with a dark wash and liven up the raised edges with a dry brush. Smooth the transition between the accessory and the diorama base with modeling putty and cover it with fine sand and scatter grass, because a gap at the joint is the most common mistake that gives a scene away. The look of weathered wood or metal is achieved with pigments applied dry.
