1:35 German MG Team. Kharkov 1943

The real subject

A machine gun team was the basic fighting pair of the infantry: one soldier worked the weapon while the other passed him ammunition, watched the surroundings and helped when moving to a new firing position. That is exactly why figures of a machine gun team are built in natural, interconnected poses and look more alive in a diorama than individual figures standing side by side. The set is set thematically at the fighting around Kharkov in 1943. The city was then one of the hardest battlefields of the Eastern Front and changed hands several times.

What the set contains

Figures in 1:35 scale, that is in the size that matches the most widespread scale of ground vehicles; an adult figure measures around five centimeters. The number of figures, their division into parts and the extent of the equipment are given in the manufacturer's instructions. The figures suit bringing a finished model to life as well as serving as the basis of a smaller scene, because the scale matches the usual kits of armored vehicles exactly.

Building and painting tips

First dry-fit the parts and check how the poses connect; with multi-figure sets the result turns above all on the figures matching one another in gaze and in the hands. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down, and fill the seams at the shoulders. Wash and degrease the figures before painting. Do not paint the uniforms in one flat color but with the folds lightened a little. Leave the faces until the end.
