Injection-molded plastic kit of the German Tiger I heavy tank in its mid production form in 1:35 scale from Tamiya. The model captures the characteristic features of the mid-production vehicles and offers a detailed hull, turret, running gear and separate individual link tracks. A figure of a German soldier and a decal sheet for several vehicles are included. For the Tiger I, Tamiya is among the best, with excellent fit and clean molding.
The Tiger I was one of the most feared German heavy tanks of the Second World War. The mid production form corresponds to the vehicles from the second half of 1943 and the start of 1944, on which a whole series of small changes appeared compared with the early examples. The main armament was the famous 88 mm KwK 36 L/56 gun with outstanding penetration and accuracy, and power came from the Maybach HL 230 gasoline engine. Heavy armor and an effective weapon made it a difficult opponent on both the Eastern and the Western Front.
Assemble the running gear with its interleaved road wheels and the tracks, and only then close the hull. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and fill and sand the joints if needed. Lay down a primer and spray dark yellow (Dunkelgelb) with an airbrush as the base for the camouflage that goes on later. A wash in the recesses, edge highlighting and dust and mud pigments on the running gear will add the weathering.
