The set contains rims with the pattern carried under the BMW factory designation Styling 359 in the form for a nineteen-inch diameter, and tires to go with them. The scale is 1:24: nineteen inches on the subject is 483 mm, on the model therefore a rim roughly twenty millimeters in diameter.
A nineteen-inch diameter belongs to newer cars and to conversions, not to a period form. On a model it shows at once: a large rim with a low sidewall lifts the wheel into the arch and the car comes across as more firmly seated, even if you do nothing with the chassis. That is exactly why it pays to compare the diameter with the lip of the arch before you set about gluing, so that the wheel has somewhere to fall into.
Put the wheels together dry and try them in the arch, and only then glue. If the parts are not of polystyrene, they are joined with cyanoacrylate glue; liquid cement for plastic has no effect on them. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the remainder so that the mating surface stays flat. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. While gluing, watch that the axis of the wheel stays parallel with the surface and that all four wheels touch the base, otherwise the model will stand crooked.
