A set of plastic figures of German paratroopers (Fallschirmjäger) in 1:35 scale from Dragon. It captures soldiers fighting against tanks in the Normandy hedgerow country (bocage) of 1944 in dynamic action poses. This is not a vehicle kit but a set of figures, which is usually accompanied by weapons and accessories on a plastic sprue. The instructions in the box give the exact number of parts and accessories.
The German Fallschirmjäger were elite airborne units which in Normandy in 1944 were deployed as infantry. They fought in the so-called bocage, a landscape divided by high earth banks overgrown with dense hedges, which gave ideal cover for anti-tank ambushes. Allied tanks lost both their view and their room to maneuver there and became easy targets for infantry with hand-held anti-tank weapons.
Glue the figures with liquid cement for plastic, and sand and fill the mold seams. Paint from a muted base: build the flesh tone in layers toward the lighter areas, shade the typical camouflage smocks of the paratroopers with a wash into the folds and bring out the edges with a dry brush. Give the helmets and the gear restrained weathering. The figures show best in a vignette with a hedge, an earth bank and perhaps a knocked-out tank as the prize.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a vehicle model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
