A photo-etched set of side armor skirts (Schürzen) in 1:35 scale from the Czech maker Hauler, intended for models of the German Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer tank destroyer. It is not a model but an accessory. The thin photo-etched plates imitate the real thickness of the period skirts faithfully, which plastic parts cannot manage at this scale. The set is cut for the Tamiya kit.
Schürzen were thin add-on plates hung along the sides of the vehicle that protected the flanks against the penetrating effect of anti-tank rifles and shaped-charge ammunition. On the Hetzer they are among the conspicuous recognition features and were often dented or partly torn away.
Cut the photo-etched skirts off the fret, suggest battle damage on them gently if you like (dents, missing pieces) and glue them to the brackets with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Degrease the brass before painting and go over it with a primer. Rust on the edges and layers of dust add to the realism.
This is a photo-etched accessory, not a model in its own right. The kit, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
