A set of six statues of saints in 1:35 scale for a diorama. An accessory with which you can bring a wayside chapel, a cemetery or a church interior to life.
Responsibility details are not available.
Statues of saints were part of the ordinary furniture of the European landscape and of its towns. They stood in the niches of chapels, by the roads, in cemeteries and in churches, and that is exactly why they suit dioramas of the fighting in Europe. An undamaged statue beside wrecked buildings is one of the strongest contrasts that can be put into a scene, and it tells the viewer at once where the action takes place.
Six statues of saints in 1:35 scale, in ceramic. The set does not have to be built: these are finished pieces that only need painting and setting into the scene, and the count of pieces is fixed.
Wash and degrease the statues before painting so that the paint holds evenly. Choose the glue according to the material you are setting the statue onto; polystyrene cement will not help here. Handle the parts carefully, as thin sections such as hands or the attributes of the saints will take very little. A convincing look comes from a light base shade, a dark wash into the folds of the robes and a gentle lightening of the raised areas with a dry brush. A greenish tinge in the hollows will suggest years of standing out in the open.
For builders of dioramas in 1:35 scale who want to give a scene a particular place and time, and for modelers who want to try painting small sculpture. The set suits a wayside chapel, a cemetery wall and the interior of a damaged church.
The diorama, soldier figures, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
