The corner of a house, the seventh numbered variant in 1:35 scale serves as a city backdrop for a small display with a figure or hardware.

This scenic item from the Black Dog diorama offering extends the numerous family of city corners that the manufacturer tells apart by serial numbers. The customer is buying a finished architectural shape, not a kit to be glued to instructions. The scale given fits ordinary figures and ground hardware, so the item joins an existing display case without any changes to the models.
A corner layout has one great advantage: it creates a sharp boundary between a lit and a shaded wall. That contrast gives the scene a depth a flat backdrop will never offer. If you photograph the model, place the light source to one side of the corner and leave one face deliberately darker; the shot then looks three-dimensional and the viewer imagines the space around the corner.
Treat the surface of the wall in layers. The lower part deserves darker zones of damp, the middle an even area and the upper reaches fading from the sun. Where the plaster is missing, paint the bricks one by one and vary their shade slightly. Apply the rusty traces under the eaves and the window sills with thinned paint drawn vertically downward, so that they blend into the surface. A final fine dust at the foot of the wall settles the scene into the ground.
The item is sold untreated; only your work with color will give it its atmosphere.
