A base with a house ruin in 1:35 scale. A finished foundation for a diorama with figures or a vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
A house ruin on a base in 1:35 scale solves the most laborious part of a diorama, that is the scene itself. Instead of building walls out of putty and laying individual bricks, you get a finished foundation on which you only need to place the figures or the hardware and finish telling the situation. For a modeler who has so far worked only on models themselves, it is the easiest route to a first scene.
A ruined house is a rewarding backdrop: it gives the height that a flat base does not have and it naturally leads the viewer's eye to a figure placed in a doorway or behind the corner of a wall. Keep one principle of composition while you do it, namely that the scene should have a clear center of gravity. One figure in a well chosen place says more than five figures spread around the perimeter.
Wash and degrease the surface before painting, otherwise the primer will not hold. Never paint masonry in a single shade: let the bricks or the stone vary slightly and lighten the joints, otherwise the surface will stay dead. A darker glaze in the recesses and a careful dry brush on the edges, where the plaster would be falling away, both work well. Add fine sand and dust pigments to the rubble at the foot of the wall so that the transition between the base and the ruin is not sharp. Finally unify the scene with a light veil of dust that ties the masonry, the ground and the fitted figures into one setting.
Figures, vehicles, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
