The accessory consists of an iron fence completed with a gate, that is an element with which private land is separated from the street in a scene. Fencing is one of the few elements that tells the viewer at once where public space ends and private space begins. That gives the view its meaning: a patrol stepping through a gate is doing something different from a patrol walking along the street.
