Responsibility details are not available.
A decal set in 1:35 scale from Star Decals. It concerns the armored vehicles that the contingents of Hungary, Bulgaria and Portugal used in Afghanistan, namely the BTR-80A, the BRDM-2 and the Panhard. The set is an accessory to a model, not a kit.
The ISAF mission was multinational and the smaller European contingents often brought into it the hardware they had in service at home. Hungary and Bulgaria both went for wheeled armored vehicles of the Eastern design school, that is the eight-wheeled BTR-80A with a turret carrying a rapid-fire cannon and the older BRDM-2 scout vehicles. Portugal, on the other hand, deployed light wheeled Panhard vehicles. Besides national insignia the vehicles also carried the shared recognition markings of the mission, so two different sets of markings commonly met on one machine.
Wheeled armored vehicles have curved bow areas and many welded seams, onto which a flat decal goes less easily than onto the flat side of a tank. Lay the gloss varnish only on the place under the design, put the decal down dry, help yourself with a setting solution and nick the film across a deeper divide with a sharp scalpel, so that it does not wrinkle. National flags and signs tend to be small, so it pays to work with tweezers and to finish the markings before you set about the dust effects.
The set holds only decals; the model and the paints do not belong to it.
