An add-on conversion set in 1:35 for the Jeep Willys CJ2A in a fire truck version. It is not a model on its own but an accessory for a model of the vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a model of the vehicle on its own but an add-on conversion set that a modeler adds to a model of the Willys Jeep. It turns a civilian working Jeep into a light fire truck of the kind volunteer brigades and forestry services built from postwar civilian Jeeps. The 1:35 scale matches the most widespread size for models of ground vehicles, so the set suits a collection as well as a diorama.
The Willys CJ2A was the first production civilian Jeep. Manufacture began in 1945 and the vehicle was derived directly from the military MB type. Its identifying features are the grille with seven vertical slots and headlights recessed into its face, the folding windshield and sturdy all-wheel drive. The Go-Devil inline four-cylinder engine gave modest power but decent torque at low revolutions, which came in handy off road and for driving attached machinery. That is exactly why light fire trucks were built from the CJ2A: they got onto field tracks and to the edges of woodland where a heavy tanker could not go.
Clean the surface of dirt before applying the base color and let it dry. Fire red looks best over a light base that brightens it; a smooth glossy surface will then take fine shading and picking out of the edges. Bring out the recesses and the gaps with a dark wash, and weather the lower areas and the fenders with pigments according to the setting you place the vehicle in. It comes off best in a small vignette with a figure or with firefighting equipment.
