A photo-etched detail set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard intended for models of the German Kettenkraftrad (Sd.Kfz.2) half-track motorcycle in 1:35 scale. It is not a vehicle kit but a set of fine sheet parts that replace and complement the simplified plastic elements with more accurate photo-etched ones. On such a small and exposed vehicle, photo-etched parts tell especially strongly.
The Kettenkraftrad, in full the Sd.Kfz.2, was a unique German light half-track vehicle of the Second World War that combined the steered front wheel of a motorcycle with tracked running gear at the rear. It served to tow light loads and weapons, on airfields and in the heavy terrain of the Eastern Front, where ordinary wheeled vehicles failed.
Photo-etched parts are cut from the brass fret with a sharp knife, shaped with a bending tool and glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate). On this small and exposed vehicle the fine fenders, covers, brackets and accessories that are clearly visible on the real thing really stand out. Degrease the parts and spray them with a base color before varnishing.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, which the set does not replace. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
