The set replaces the clamps and brackets by which the jack was secured to the hull of heavy German vehicles of the Second World War. It is not a kit or a model of a vehicle, but a set of small accessory parts fitted to a kit built otherwise, in 1:35 scale. According to its name the contents of the package are enough for five vehicles, so it suits modelers who build several pieces or a diorama with a few machines.
A heavy screw jack was part of the basic equipment of every vehicle and was carried fastened to the outer armor, usually at the rear of the hull or on a fender. The holders were thin metal straps with an eye, a clip or a wing nut. In injection-molded plastic such a shape cannot be made except as a markedly oversized block, because a mold needs draft angles and a minimum wall thickness. That is precisely why jack holders are among the parts whose replacement is most visible on a model.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap, so release agent residue from the mold is removed, or the paint will not hold. Cut the casting remnants off with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw; do not tear them. Sand with respiratory protection and preferably wet. They are glued with super glue; with small parts it works well to put a drop of glue on a piece of plastic and pick it up with the tip of a toothpick. Before fitting, measure the correct position on the model according to the instructions of the base kit, because the holders are mounted on smooth armor with no locating pins.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
