1:35 Kitchenware

Kitchenware for a diorama in 1:35 scale

The set is a small diorama accessory. It is not a model in its own right, but furnishing for a scene: kitchen utensils and tableware that you add to a build at the moment the main model is finished and its surroundings still look empty. The 1:35 scale is the most widespread scale for military vehicles and figures, so the accessories will fit the vast majority of dioramas built around a tank, a truck or a group of figures.

Why small things pay off

A diorama tells a story through detail, not through size. A field kitchen, the corner of a farm or the interior of a house look convincing only once the ordinary furnishings can be seen in them: something put down on a table, something hung on a wall, something dropped on the ground. It is precisely such small things that the eye reads as a trace of people, even when no figure stands in the scene.

How to work with the accessories

• Lay the arrangement out roughly first and only then glue it down firmly
• Paint small parts before gluing them on, as a brush then reaches everywhere
• A metal look is helped by a dark base and dry brushing, not by glossy silver
• Work the accessories into the scene with a wash and pigments so that they do not look like new goods
• Leave some of the objects partly hidden, as having everything fully on show looks artificial

Who the set is for

For builders of dioramas in 1:35 scale who are finishing an interior, a field rear area or a civilian scene and are looking for small things they would otherwise have to make by hand. It will serve in a display scene built around a single vehicle as well, where every detail carries great weight.

Paints, glue and a base for the diorama are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
