An injection-molded plastic kit of the American wheeled armored vehicle LAV-25 in the upgraded SLEP configuration (service life extension program) in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the 8x8 chassis and the turning turret with the 25 mm cannon; the SLEP configuration brought changes to the drive train, the electronics and the equipment that the vehicle went through for further years of service.
The LAV-25 is an American 8x8 wheeled armored vehicle used above all by the Marine Corps. It is amphibious – it propels itself in the water, and thanks to its good range and speed under its own power it serves for reconnaissance and transport. The main armament is a 25 mm automatic cannon in the turret. The SLEP (Service Life Extension Program) upgraded the vehicles: it introduced improvements to the drive train, the electronics, the protection and the equipment so that the proven type would stay combat-capable even after decades of service. The external signs are usually modified details of the hull and new equipment.
Paint the eight-wheeled chassis before the side plates cover it over. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement and sand the joints. Lay down a base coat (primer) before painting. Apply a modern single-color or desert finish with an airbrush and lighten the upper surfaces gently. Dust and mud on the large wheels and in the wheel arches are brought out by final washes and dry pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
