In its 1:35 range of armored equipment Tamiya offers the Leopard 2 A7V, the most modern production form of the German main battle tank. The kit benefits from the famous accuracy of its molding, thanks to which the build goes quickly and the parts follow on to one another with a minimum of filling.
The Leopard 2 A7V represents the peak of the Leopard 2 development line for the Bundeswehr. The letter V refers to the German word verbessert, meaning improved: the tank was given a 120 mm gun with the longer L/55A1 barrel, strengthened protection of the frontal area, updated observation and sighting equipment and more capable cooling of the electronics. The German army took over the first machines in the early 2020s and the variant today forms the backbone of its tank battalions.
Finish the running gear and the tracks before settling the side skirts, so as to avoid later acrobatics with tweezers. The three-color NATO camouflage comes out well with slight lightening of the centers of the areas; a unifying filter and discreet dust tones will keep a modern machine convincing without overdone weathering.
