Black Dog 1:35 M109A2 IDF — conversion set is a resin conversion set that reworks a model of the M109A2 self-propelled howitzer into its Israeli form.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin conversion set in 1:35 scale for the M109A2 self-propelled howitzer in the configuration of the Israeli Defense Forces. It is not a kit — it is a collection of replacement and additional castings that are fitted onto a base plastic model and change its fit and appearance. A conversion is a more demanding kind of accessory than a simple cargo set: it often involves cutting parts of the original plastic components away, so it suits modelers who have already worked with resin. The extent of the package and the number of parts are stated on the packaging of the set.
The M109 is one of the most widespread self-propelled howitzers, and its individual users reworked it to their own needs — with different superstructure fittings, different stowage of materiel, different protective elements. Ordinary kits capture the American configuration, so the route to the Israeli version runs precisely through a conversion set. The result is a model that differs from a build out of the box not only in color but in shape.
Before building, go carefully through which plastic parts are replaced and where the base model has to be cut into — with conversions it pays to dry-fit the parts and to adjust them step by step. Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand wet without breathing the dust. They are bonded with cyanoacrylate glue; ordinary modeling cement will not join resin to plastic. Apply a primer before painting, which will at the same time show up any scratches left from sanding. Finish and paint the running gear and the inner surfaces before you close them in with the superstructure.
This is a conversion set, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
