The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Leopard 2 is a German main battle tank that from the late 1970s became one of the most widespread types of its category in Europe. The A6 version is recognized above all by its longer 120 mm gun with a barrel 55 calibers long and by the wedge-shaped add-on armor modules at the front of the turret, which give the vehicle its characteristic angular silhouette. The crew numbers four: commander, gunner, loader and driver. Power comes from a turbocharged diesel engine of around 1500 horsepower, thanks to which the vehicle has respectable cross-country mobility for its weight. The type is in service with several European armies, which shows in the variety of camouflage schemes and equipment on individual machines.
Work from the bottom up, that is the hull and the running gear first. It makes sense to paint the wheels, the rollers and the tracks before fitting them to the vehicle, because once the side skirts are closed up a brush can no longer reach between them. Before you close the hull, check dry that the turret sits freely and rotates. The three-color European camouflage schemes spray well with an airbrush set to a fine line, and soft transitions come from lower pressure and a greater distance from the surface. For weathering, use a dark wash into the recesses and seams, and dust and mud pigments on the running gear and the lower areas, because that is where a vehicle gets dirtiest in service. Even the surface out with a flat clear coat at the end, and metal edges and worn areas can be picked out gently with graphite or a metal pigment.
