Luftwaffe Soldiers Insignia is a photo-etched set of insignia for figures in 1:35 scale from Rado Miniatures. It adds to uniforms a detail that is very hard to paint freehand.

An accessory set from Rado Miniatures intended for figures of Luftwaffe personnel in 1:35 scale. It is neither a figure nor a kit, but a set of small photo-etched parts with national and rank insignia that are added to a uniform when the figure is being finished. In 1:35 scale such an element is only a few millimeters across, so freehand work gives a blob rather than a readable shape; an etched part, by contrast, has a crisp outline and looks convincing even under a magnifier once painted.
The parts are etched into a thin metal sheet and are separated with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, never by tearing. Work over a light surface and keep your hands over it, because a millimeter-sized part that flies off is practically lost for good. On the figure the part is attached with a spot of super glue applied with the tip of a toothpick; on flat elements a drop of varnish will do as well. It is then painted over together with the uniform so that it merges with the surface, and it is brought out only with a dark wash around the edge. It pays to lay a primer under the metal before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface.
The set is an accessory for figures. The figures, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Protect your eyes when working with a scalpel and small metal parts.
