A larger 1:35 conversion offering which, according to the name, covers two vehicles at once: the American M1078 LMTV truck in the armed convoy form War pig and the HUMVEE cross-country vehicle in special operations configuration. These are not models of the vehicles but accessories for them.
Both subjects belong to the picture of American convoys over the past two decades. The M1078 LMTV is a 4x4 truck from the FMTV family, introduced in the 1990s; on supply runs in Iraq it turned out that an unprotected truck is the most vulnerable link in a column, and units therefore fitted the trucks with add-on armor and mounted weapons. The HUMVEE, officially the HMMWV, is a universal 4x4 cross-country vehicle from the mid-1980s; special operations detachments used lightened open versions with more weapon mounts and extensive racks for fuel, water and ammunition. The pairing of a heavy truck with a lighter escort is typical of scenes from convoy operations and offers a rewarding contrast in both mass and color.
Because there are two vehicles, it pays to unify the coloring and the degree of wear so that they read as one unit. Choose dust pigments on the wheels and the lower areas in the same shade of setting for both machines. The add-on armor items on the truck, by contrast, can be set apart in color, as though they had been made outside workshop standards. A wash will pull detail out of the gaps, and a fine lightening of the edges will bring out the shape. Mismatched kit is welcome on these vehicles, but keep the wear in proportion to the size of the surfaces.
