1:35 M1126

The real subject

The M1126 is an American wheeled armored personnel carrier on eight driven wheels, intended to carry an infantry squad and to support it on the battlefield. Compared with a tracked vehicle it relied on fast movement by road, lower noise and easier maintenance. It entered service at the beginning of the millennium and its appearance changed during that service: additional armor kits, slat side panels, extra armament and crew equipment were added. That is exactly why accessories come into play on a model of this vehicle.

What the set offers

The item is listed among the accessory sets for 1:35 scale and is tied to the M1126 vehicle. Exactly what the package contains, how many parts are in it and which kit the set fits are given in the manufacturer's instructions. Before building it therefore pays to go through the instructions first and only then reach for the blade, because the order of the steps with accessories tends to differ from that of the kit itself.

Building and painting tips

First offer the parts up dry in position and check that they seat, and only then glue them. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; the exact procedure is given by the manufacturer. Cut excess material and manufacturing marks off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down until the surface is level with the outline. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Small features are easier to paint separately and are fitted only at the end, otherwise you cannot reach them with a brush.
