It is not a kit of the vehicle but an accessory set for an already purchased model of the M113 armored personnel carrier in 1:35 scale from the Taiwanese manufacturer AFV Club. The package contains workable link tracks, drive sprockets of the German type and grousers for use in snow. This combination of parts makes it possible to turn an American M113 into the form of the German M113A1G version used within NATO.
On a tracked vehicle the track is the most conspicuous detail and at the same time the place where the versions differ most. German M113A1G vehicles had a different arrangement of track and drive sprocket from the American standard, and in winter operation grousers were fitted into the track. Workable tracks moreover allow a natural sag between the return rollers and a faithful settling onto the terrain of a base, something that tracks of soft plastic and cast parts cannot manage.
The links are put together one by one, so count on time and patience; it helps to prepare a jig or a strip on which you assemble the track in longer sections. Sand the flash from the mold off before joining them, otherwise the track will not bend. Leave the track workable, paint it separately from the hull and fit it only once the running gear has been painted. For weathering, a dark wash into the recesses, a dry brush in a metallic shade on the contact surfaces and dust pigments at the end have proved themselves.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is intended as an accessory to a base kit. Glue, paints and the model itself are not included in the package.
