An injection-molded plastic kit of the American rocket launcher M142 HIMARS from Trumpeter in 1:35 scale. HIMARS is a wheeled vehicle, so the kit contains a well-detailed 6x6 chassis with a full drive train including the engine, the gearbox and the axles, hollow rubber tires with a faithful tread, transparent parts for the cab glazing and photo-etched items. The model is therefore more detailed than a conventional tracked tank.
The M142 HIMARS is an American self-propelled rocket launcher system on a wheeled truck chassis. It carries a single launch pod with six guided rockets, or alternatively one ballistic missile, and is designed so that after firing it can quickly change position and escape counter-battery fire. Compared with tracked launchers it stands out for its high mobility, easy air transport and lower running demands. In service with a number of armies it has become one of the best-known artillery weapons of recent years.
A wheeled vehicle builds a little differently from a tank: take time over the axles, the drive train and the seating of the cab so that the model stands square. Glue the plastic with liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Mask the transparent parts and glue them at the very end. Apply a primer under the paint and spray with an airbrush. For the patina use subtle washes in the recesses and above all dust and earth pigments on the tires, the fenders and the underside, which give a wheeled vehicle convincing dirt from the field.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
