LC75 - Gold FS 17043 Gloss

Lifecolor Gold FS 17043 Gloss

A gloss gold shade with a metallic look from the Lifecolor acrylic range. The designation FS 17043 comes from the American Federal Standard color standard and the manufacturer gives it in the name together with the degree of sheen.

Where gold turns up on an aircraft

Camouflage is meant to hide an aircraft; gold does just the opposite, and that is why it appears only where concealment gave ground to display. Typically these are decorative borders around national insignia and squadron emblems, lettering and the names of machines, command and ceremonial aircraft, anniversary finishes on tail surfaces and the colored elements of demonstration flights. On a model it is usually the last color to go onto a finished area, and it changes the impression of the whole scheme.

How a metallic shade behaves

With metallic paints the base decides. The metal pigment settles at the bottom, so the contents are mixed especially carefully before work, and the result looks best on a smooth base, because irregularities are picked out in the reflection. Metallic areas are also harder to varnish over and to mask, which is why they are usually left to the end of the procedure. On the large smooth area of a wing, gold is an accessory rather than the main color; a small border or a piece of lettering, by contrast, stands out thanks to it even on dark camouflage.

Who the color is for

For modelers who are finishing the markings and decorative elements of aircraft, and for figure painters and diorama builders, where gold suits fittings, equipment and accessories.

Mix the contents thoroughly before use, close the bottle carefully after work and work in a well-ventilated space. Keep out of the reach of children.
