With this set the American tank tractor and its lowboy trailer receive road wheels with a weighted patch and the trailer wheels in 1:35 scale. The tread carries the name of the period tire maker Goodyear.

This more extensive set by Pimp My Miniatures deals with the tires of the whole combination at once: the tires of the tractor and the wheels of the towed lowboy trailer. The tread matches the period Goodyear tire, as the name gives it, and the rubber is rendered under load, that is, with a widened footprint at the point of contact. It is precisely on a combination as heavy as this that the detail shows most.
The American combination made up of the six-wheeled M26 tractor and a forty-ton lowboy semi-trailer was among the most massive vehicles the Allies had. The tractor had an armored cab and a pair of cable winches and was built to drag a wrecked Sherman out of the mud and take it to the workshop. It got its nickname from its bulky shape, and in a later lightened version without armor it served long after the war. The combination appeared in Normandy, in the Ardennes and during the advance into Germany, and units used it just as much to move combat-ready tanks, to save their own tracks.
Sort and mark the wheels from a set as extensive as this in advance, so that the axles do not get mixed up. The combination looks best loaded, when the load on the tires is credible. Leave the mud on the tractor wheels darker and wetter than on the trailer dragged behind it, and you will gain an impression of movement.
The combination, fasteners and paints are not contained in the package.
