A set for the British Scimitar Mk2 light reconnaissance tracked vehicle of the CVR(T) family in the version from the Operation Cabrit deployment in Estonia, in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Scimitar belongs to the British CVR(T) family of light tracked vehicles, that is, machines built for reconnaissance. The point was not to push through by force but to get quickly to where a heavy tank cannot reach, find something out and disappear in time. The light construction, the low silhouette and the low ground pressure that lets the vehicle cross even soft terrain all follow from that. The main weapon is the 30 mm RARDEN cannon in a rotating turret. The Mk2 designation belongs to the later, upgraded form of the vehicle.
Operation Cabrit is the British name for the deployment of ground forces in the Baltic states as part of a multinational NATO unit. The British units in Estonia train in terrain and in a climate that differ considerably from what earlier missions were used to: instead of dust and dry rock, the vehicles here face forest, mud and cold. This can be put to good use on the model, because the state of the surface and the deposits on the running gear give away where the vehicle has been driven.
Clear the parts of excess material and of marks left by production, sand the mating surfaces and test-fit the whole thing dry before any glue goes on. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts and according to the manufacturer's instructions. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. On a reconnaissance vehicle, restrained weathering looks convincing when it concentrates on the running gear and on the places where the crew moves about, that is, on the grab handles, the hatches and the areas they step on.
It will be appreciated by modelers of contemporary British hardware and by anyone who builds scenes from present-day NATO missions. The range of parts and the choice of markings are given in the manufacturer's instructions. Paints, thinner, glue and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
