This is a photo-etched detail set from Tetra Model Works, not a vehicle model. The set in thin brass sheet sharpens up a plastic kit of the American M901 launching station of the Patriot air defense system in the PAC-2 version in 1:35 scale: usually the platforms, the grilles, the covers, the grab handles and other fine elements of the launcher trailer. The parts follow the Trumpeter kit.
The M901 is the launching station of the American Patriot air defense missile system. The PAC-2 (Patriot Advanced Capability-2) version brought an improved missile and the ability to engage ballistic targets as well. Together with the radar and the control station, the launching station forms the basic firing element of a Patriot battery.
The photo-etched parts in thin brass sheet are separated with a sharp knife on a hard surface, bent over an edge or in a bending tool and bonded best with super glue (cyanoacrylate). It is a good idea to degrease both the photo-etch and the plastic before gluing. The photo-etched platforms, ladders and grilles markedly raise the realism of the launcher trailer, which is clearly visible on the model. The finished surface is treated with a primer and sprayed with an airbrush, and the weathering is built up with washes and pigments.
This is an accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
