A male figure ready to take the controls of the A/S32A-49 towing vehicle, the scene 2 form, in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A male figure ready to be seated in the A/S32A-49 towing machine. The scene 2 qualifier marks one of the several positions in which the driver is offered – thanks to that, two items on the same subject will not clash in a display case. The machine itself is a separate matter and has to be dealt with on its own.
Without towing vehicles an aircraft carrier would come to a halt. They move aircraft between the hangar and the flight deck, put them on the takeoff position and after landing clear them off the runway so that the next machine can land. The low build of the tractor lets it pass under a wing, and the driver meanwhile sits practically in the open and relies on the signals of the director. That is exactly why the figure gives a scene both movement and an understandable story.
Start with an undercoat in a neutral gray, which will show up any imperfections in the surface. Apply the base tone of the coveralls flat, let the shadow in with heavily thinned paint and wipe the excess away while it is wet. Mix the skin darker than it would seem; in miniature, light tones read as chalky. The reflective vest and the ear defenders, by contrast, should be left bold, so that the figure's role is clear at a glance.
The item is sold unpainted and without any painting accessories.
