A pair of cast road wheels of the early Merkava in 1:35 with a QW covering template, adapted to Takom kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
Israeli tanks did not run on a single type of wheel throughout their service. Alongside the later rendering of pressed steel, a cast wheel appeared abundantly on the first two series of the Merkava, with coarser ribbing on the disk and a different arrangement of the lugs around the hub. The workshops moreover mixed both kinds according to what was at hand, so in period photographs you will see a machine that has both on one side. It is just this small incongruity that makes a model lively and is the simplest way to give an armored vehicle a face of its own.
The set carries two pieces, so it is not intended for changing the whole running gear. It is reckoned with where you want to alternate a couple of wheels, add a spare piece slung on the hull or replace the part that is most visible when seen from the side. A QW covering template is included as well.
It pays to think out in advance which position the cast wheel will go to. Modelers most often put them on the first and last mounting, where the running gear rubs against the terrain the most and where a change in the field made sense. The mounting corresponds to Takom kits in 1:35.
The brand builds its range for Israeli machines in steps of scope: a pair of wheels is the smallest, four wheels without rubber the middle one, and a full set of tires for the chassis together with a template the largest. This item is the narrowest in scope of the three and suits cases where you want to move the result along with a small intervention.
