A photo-etched set from Eduard in 1:35 scale intended for detailing a model of the Israeli Merkava Mk.IID main battle tank. The set brings the side armor shields and the small related parts, which in a fine metal rendering look more faithful than plastic ones. It is an accessory for a kit, not a standalone model.

The real subject

The Merkava is an Israeli main battle tank with an unconventional layout in which the engine is placed at the front and gives the crew additional protection. The Mk.II D version built on the experience of the Israeli armored forces and carried modernized protection. The side armor shields protect the running gear and the sides of the hull.

Use and building tips

Separate the parts on a cutting surface and form the bends with a bending tool. Use cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the metal shields and apply a base coat before painting. Then build up the sand and dust shades of the Middle East with washes and pigments.
