A set of drums for the German MG 34 machine gun in 1:35 scale from AMMO of Mig Jimenez. An accessory for a diorama and for vehicles carrying this machine gun.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MG 34 was a German general purpose machine gun of 7.92 mm caliber which served in the Second World War with the infantry, with vehicle crews and with the garrisons of fortifications. Ammunition was fed to it in a belt, and sheet metal drums went with the belt: they carried its coiled beginning, protected the rounds from mud and let the gunner carry the weapon ready to fire. Cylindrical drums with a lug for attachment are therefore almost everywhere in period photographs where the MG 34 itself appears.
Drums for the MG 34 in 1:35 scale as a stand-alone accessory. Which version the package carries and in what number is given in the manufacturer's instructions. The use is wide: the drums can be hung on the weapon, laid on a fender or on the bed of a vehicle, placed around a trench or put into the hand of an assistant gunner figure. It is exactly details of this kind that turn a static model into an inhabited scene.
Cut excess material and production marks off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest away carefully. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material: super glue for resin and printed parts, cement for plastic models on polystyrene. Paint the drums separately from the vehicle and fit them only at the end, as they have a different coloring from the hull: darkened metal, worn paint on the edges and rather more dust than on the vertical surfaces of the machine. Suggest the wear on the edges with a hard pencil or with a dark metallic shade applied with a dry brush.
The set is intended as an accessory for a model and its coverage is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Figures, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
