Star Decals 1:35 for the fighting in Katanga and the Congo, markings for the equipment of the conflict at the start of the 1960s.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of decals in 1:35 scale with the markings of vehicles from the fighting in Katanga and the Congo. An accessory for a finished model, not a kit or a set of parts.
Shortly after the Congo declared independence in 1960 the southern province of Katanga broke away from the new state, and three years of fighting followed, into which UN units, the Congolese army, Katangese formations and hired foreign instructors and fighters all intervened. The equipment was varied accordingly and often improvised: light off-road vehicles with added armor, armored cars from European army stocks and civilian truck chassis adapted for military use. The markings were just as disparate, with new state symbols alongside the insignia of formations that existed only briefly.
Worn markings suit improvised equipment too, so the decals do not have to be laid perfectly. On the contrary: once they have dried you can disturb them lightly with a damp sanding sponge or the tip of a toothpick, to produce abrasions and faded places. It is also effective to apply the markings before you finish the last layer of dust: a thin layer of pigment across the edges settles a design into the surface and the difference between painted and stuck on disappears.
The decals are supplied on their own. A model and paints are not included in the package.
