This aftermarket set from Voyager Model brings brass photo-etched parts for a model of the Russian heavy wheeled KZKT-537L tractor. It is not a kit of the vehicle but a detail accessory for the Trumpeter 01005 plastic model. The scope of the fret and the number of parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions in the package.
The KZKT-537L belongs to the family of heavy eight-wheeled tractors derived from the MAZ-537 type, whose production later moved to the plant in Kurgan. Vehicles of this class serve to tow heavy semi-trailers and lowboys and to carry bulky loads across country, where an ordinary truck would not cope. Characteristic features are the short cab, the tall profile and the extensive sheet-metal covers of the engine and the cooling system.
The brass of a photo-etched fret is preserved with the residue of the production process and grease from your fingers, so paint will not hold on it without preparation and flakes off in whole patches during handling. Before painting, therefore, wipe all the metal parts with alcohol or give them a short bath with a degreaser and dry them; from then on touch them only through a glove or with tweezers. Then lay on a thin coat of primer meant for metal, ideally sprayed rather than brushed. The coat has to be genuinely thin, because a heavy primer fills the fine structure of the photo-etched parts and all the work with them is lost. Only onto dry primer should the base shade be applied.
This is an add-on set for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
