This is not a model but a photo-etched accessory. The set from Voyager Model in 1:35 scale concentrates on the interior of the crew cab and is cut for the Trumpeter 01046 plastic kit. It is a smaller, targeted set rather than a complete refinement of the whole vehicle; the scope of the package is not stated here. It makes sense above all when you are planning open doors or glazing through which the cab will be visible.
The M270 is a tracked rocket launcher on a chassis derived from an infantry fighting vehicle, with an armored cab at the front and the launcher at the rear. It carries two exchangeable pods with rockets, which are loaded by a crane from the vehicle itself. The M270A1 version brought an upgraded fire control system and a faster aiming mechanism for the launcher. In German service the system is designated by the abbreviation MARS. The crew consists of three people, who work in that forward cab.
With interior sets a simple rule applies: work up what will be seen and leave the rest basic. First establish dry how much of the cab stays exposed once the doors are closed and the glazing fitted, and divide your effort accordingly. Paint the interior before closing it up and use a lighter base than reality would call for, because there is little light inside and the surface darkens optically. Do not make shadows with a dark wash over the whole area but deliberately into the corners and under the consoles. Instrument panels and levers have fine relief on photo-etched parts, which is brought out by a dry brush in a lighter shade. Fit the glazing at the very end and protect it with masking tape.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which it does not include. The glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
