A figure of a USMC ground crew fuel man in 1:35 scale from DEF Model is a resin casting to be built and painted.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a stand-alone resin figure in 1:35 scale, not a kit of a vehicle or an aircraft. It represents a member of the United States Marine Corps ground crew in modern gear, caught at work refueling. The figure is supplied as a casting with casting blocks, usually split into torso, head and limbs, which are glued together before painting. The number of parts, the height and any additional gear are stated on the box. Figures of this kind bring a display stand or a diorama to life — they give the scene its scale and its activity.
A static model on its own does not show what is going on around it. A figure in a working pose, by contrast, places the scene in a definite situation at once and gives the viewer a sense of scale. Resin castings are also usually more accurate anatomically and have finer folds of clothing than figures injection-molded in plastic.
Wash the casting first in lukewarm soapy water to remove any mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, level the mating surfaces and fill any bubbles or gaps with putty. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue; on larger surfaces a wire pin helps. Apply a thin coat of primer so that the detail stands out. Build the skin up from a base tone through shadows in the recesses to lightened high points; paint the clothing in a base color and model it with glazes and a dry brush, keeping the lightest tone on the edges of the folds. At the end, unify the whole surface with a matte varnish and dust the boots and the lower part of the trousers lightly with pigment.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
