About product

1:35 Neubau-Fahrzeug, a multi-turret experimental tank

An injection-molded plastic kit of the German experimental Neubau-Fahrzeug tank (the version with the Rheinmetall chassis and the Krupp main turret) in 1:35 scale. It is a characteristic multi-turret machine with a main turret and two smaller machine gun turrets. The box usually contains individual track links, clear parts and photo-etched accessories; check the exact contents and the decals against the instructions.

The real subject

The Neubau-Fahrzeug (literally new construction vehicle) was a German experimental multi-turret tank designed in the first half of the 1930s. The main turret carried a 7.5 cm gun and a coaxial 3.7 cm gun, while two smaller turrets at the front and the rear were fitted with machine guns. Only five vehicles were built and it was a developmental dead end, because the many-turret concept did not prove itself in the Second World War. A few machines were sent to Norway in 1940, where they filled a demonstration and propaganda role rather than a combat one.

Building and painting tips

On a multi-turret tank, assemble and test the running gear and fit the interior parts before you close the hull, because you will not reach them later. Clean the flash off the track links. Use liquid cement on the plastic and super glue on the photo-etched parts. After the primer, apply the base color with an airbrush; the intricate surface and the many turrets invite weathering, with a dark wash into the recesses, a dry brush on the edges and dust or mud pigments on the running gear.

Who the model is for

  • For modelers interested in German interwar and early war armor.
  • For collectors of unusual and prototype vehicles.
  • For more advanced builders: the multi-turret design and the tracks call for patience.

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
